The impact of self-driven learning on emotional
well-being
How purpose and goals strengthen emotional resilience
When young people are given the chance to pursue their passions within a supportive community, it has a profound impact on their overall well-being and sense of purpose. And we have the data to back it up!
In collaboration with Cornell University, research shows that this kind of environment boosts life satisfaction and happiness, reduces negative emotions, strengthens self-identity, and increases confidence through achieving goals.
Our own research supports these findings: after years of surveys and studies, we’ve found that most of our participants have developed a strong belief in their ability to achieve their goals through hard work.
Together, these studies offer valuable insights into how different experiences and environments influence the emotional and psychological development of adolescents, shaping their overall learning outcomes.

Highlights

1..It’s all about belonging
A supportive environment is crucial for young people to feel a true sense of belonging. This not only reduces feelings of loneliness and enhances emotional well-being but also fosters a deeper sense of connection, promoting healthier adolescent development and stronger social bonds.

4. Identity and the experience of feeling “off-track”
During adolescence, feeling ‘off-track’ often creates a sense of discrepancy between one’s current and past self. This feeling is less tied to a fixed identity compared to adults, highlighting the more fluid nature of adolescent identity exploration. Interactions with champions and progress on goals can help improve self-esteem and provide greater clarity about one’s self-concept.

5. Activating the power of self-belief
With strong self-belief, a person gains confidence, expands their sense of possibility, and cultivates a growth mindset. This transformation changes their approach to learning, fostering a mindset open to Challenges. They ultimately feel empowered to pursue any goal.
